The following are descriptions of proposed park improvements associated with the parks bond. These proposed improvements are tentative and subject to change. There is no guarantee that these improvements will be implemented as stated or that a new park will be approved as part of the parks bond. Implementation of these improvements will be subject to future public hearing and public bidding. All dates of these future meetings for the implementation of these improvements will be advertised and the meetings will be open to the public. All costs included are tentative projections and subject to change.
Secret Lake Park
Secret Lake Park is an existing park between Secret Lake and Triplet Lake. The proposed improvements include renovating existing amenities in the park and providing new amenities. At the north end, a new grassed parking lot with parking spaces that meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements will be added, as well as an 8-ft-wide trail and boardwalk connecting to Frances Avenue. To the south, the existing baseball field will be replaced by a multi-sports field with sports lighting, a pavilion, and a new outdoor exercise station and equipment. Southeast of this space, the existing natural canopy area will be preserved and enhanced with updated boardwalks, fishing piers, new pedestrian lighting, and site furnishings. The existing playground area will be upgraded, including a new restroom building to replace the existing structure, new playground for children ages 2–5, pavilion, additional shade structure, and pedestrian lighting. The recreation building is proposed for renovation, with a new shaded picnic area installed around the back. At the canoe launch area, ADA walkway access will be included with additional ADA parking, sidewalk will be repaired, and a new canoe and paddleboard storage facility constructed. A picnic area will also be added adjacent to the canoe/kayak launch. Finally, the basketball courts are proposed to be resurfaced, a new cold-water fountain will be added, along with picnic tables and site furnishings. The existing pavilion will be replaced, and the existing restroom and park sign will be renovated. Repairs of the 8-ft-wide concrete trail will take place throughout the park.
The park renovation is projected to cost $3,570,407.62, based on the conceptual design cost estimate.
The preliminary estimated additional annual operating cost related to the proposed improvements for this park is $106,737.
