Dew Drop Park
Dew Drop Park is an existing lakefront park slated to receive improvements to provide better connectivity and functionality for users. Access improvements are proposed, with a new entry from Canterbury Circle that includes both pedestrian and vehicular access into a parking lot with a drop-off area. Adjacent to the parking area will be a stormwater rain garden to filter pollutants from reaching Dew Drop Pond. Basketball and tennis courts are proposed next to the parking lot. West of the courts is an open green space with pavilions, a restroom building, and a play area zipline. A sensory garden sits to the north. Farther west will be an active play area with exercise stations, separate playgrounds for children ages 2–5 and 5–12, and a large pavilion for family activities. A fishing pier extends from the large pavilion into Dew Drop Pond for water access. Finally, a sand volleyball court will sit adjacent the existing restrooms. Throughout the property, a paved 10-ft-wide multiuse trail loop will be added, including benches, fitness stations, as well as a formalized pedestrian connection to Avalon Boulevard to provide better access to the property. A landscape buffer is proposed along the edge of the property to provide privacy and separation from existing residences adjacent to the park.
Implementation of this plan is projected to cost $2,406,758.88, based on the conceptual design cost estimate.
The preliminary estimated additional annual operating cost related to the proposed improvements for this park is $62,644.
